My friend Jen, who is a professional photographer took these lovely shots of Lucia at brunch a few weeks ago. And here our friend Eric gets the ol' fishhook yet again.
In line with Lucia's history of cluster achievements she has progressed to standing unsupported and taking a few steps on her own. She will surely be walking by months end.
The weather was perfect for Lucia and Charlie's first pool party this weekend.(Don't get too excited, that's not hair, but rather a blade of grass, on her head.) Later Chris and Lucia swapped and gnawed hats while Charlie chowed down.

Lucia and I hang out with a few other moms and kids the same age on Wednesdays. Last week Lucia held court here in her own laundry basket.

Technically Lucia has begun to speak her first word, "Mom" or sometimes "Mom-mom". I'm not sure if she has any idea what it means but sometimes when she starts wailing it as soon as I put her down, I think maybe. In other news, here are some pictures of Lucia having a snack while at the zoo with her boy Charlie.
Thanks to Cora and Allen for the easter eggs. They somehow arrived intact all the way from Boston only to suffer immediate abuses... ...and prompt destruction.
I had to quickly document Lucia's current tooth configuration, because there are more teeth on the way. But right now she looks like a little vampire bat. Buah-ha-ha! Perfect for biting into this sandwich!

Good thing Niko's so patient and tolerant, some dogs might not like being a step stool, chew toy, and victim of so much curiosity. "Oh no, here we go again!"
Plus a bonus, rarely seen moment of the munchkin at rest. (I somehow managed to wake up before her yesterday.)

We had a visit this weekend with Lucia's auntie Dinah and uncle Derek. Dinah was able to use her photographic skillz to capture some of Lucia's favorite recent maneuvers...like the open mouthed kiss ...and the need to be constantly standing up!
Brunching with the ladies At the revolution cafe with Ta Wei Making a house call with the Baron after his knee surgery (These two always manage to dress alike lately. Pure coincidence? Or are they secretly planning it?)
Lucia has started to be able to feed herself a little bit. Just wee bits of cooked veggies, freeze dried fruit, and cheerios. She hardly ever gags herself anymore... well almost. And don't worry, if any pieces fall on the floor Niko will make sure it's tidied right up in a jif.
In the last week Lucia learned to crawl, transition from crawling to sitting and vice versa and stand up. Busy week! All these achievements can be attributed to the fact that she is full of raw focus and determination, as you can see.
